When Donald Trump won the election, it became more obvious than ever that he was not only unqualified for the job but that he didn’t really want it in the first place — however, his ego prevented him from dropping out. Trump looked less than thrilled when he was announced as the winner and his performance has been horrendous as the president can’t wait to sneak away to Florida so he can escape his presidential duties and play golf all weekend. Now, thanks to a well-connected reporter, we know the truth about how Trump really feels about his job.
New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman, who has developed quite a close relationship with Trump and his administration, has just given an interview with Slate in which she talks about Trump and how much he hates being POTUS. Haberman stated that “No,” Trump doesn’t like his job for the most part, but he enjoys a few things. What are those things? Haberman said:
I have never thought he is enjoying this job. I think he enjoys the title Mr. President. I think he enjoys Air Force One, Marine One, the big car, having a lot of Secret Service, his Diet Coke bell, all of that stuff.”
As expected, nothing about what an honor it is to serve Americans and improve the country. Just travel amenities and a “servant” bell to get another Diet Coke. Haberman continued, stating that Trump views all of the other aspects of his job as a downgrade from his previous life as a reality television star and real estate mogul. She said:
I don’t think he particularly likes living in the White House. I certainly don’t think he enjoys the job. In fairness, I think that most presidents don’t love the job when they are in it, but I think that others have experienced it quite differently.”
Well, Trump, the feeling is mutual. You hate being president, and the majority of this country hates having you as a president!
