If you were disgusted by the time that Donald Trump and rapper Kanye West announced their bromance on Twitter a few weeks ago, then you’re going to be even more horrified to know that West’s wife, reality TV star Kim Kardashian, has used that opportunity to get into the White House — and she’s causing major issues.
Shortly after West and Trump exchanged love notes on Twitter, Kardashian was working on getting into the White House to speak to the president about pardoning 63-year-old Alice Marie Johnson, who is serving a life sentence for nonviolent drug possession and money laundering charges.
Last week, Kardashian was granted a meeting (arranged by Jared Kushner) with the president to discuss pardoning Johnson, since Trump is apparently now obsessed with pardons — and it has gotten out of control. White House aides have revealed that Trump actually asked his friends for a list of individuals who should be pardoned.
Ed Rollins, a Republican consultant, described Trump’s newfound obsession:
It’s all part of the show. It’s not a rational or traditional process, but about the celebrity or who they know, or who he sees on Fox & Friends. He’s sending the message, ‘I can do whatever I want, and I could certainly pardon someone down the line on the Russia probe.'”
However, this is causing more issues than it should for Trump’s White House, as his chief of staff, John Kelly, is totally against the move. Kelly, who is familiar with Johnson’s case, does not believe she deserves to be pardoned. Given that Trump has a tendency to follow the advice of people outside of his own administration, there’s a pretty good chance that Trump will side with Kardashian and ignore his own chief of staff. This is only going to cause more problems in Trump’s White House, as we’re watching things fall apart every day.
