Well that didn’t take long.
A woman who raised eyebrows after going on CNN to give an unhinged screed against Obama and say Trump inspired her to pay attention to politics has been exposed as 1.) a birther and 2.) a right-wing former politician. Ironically, she accused Obama of being a liar.
During a segment on CNN which claimed to feature “real voters, real choices,” a woman named Susan DeLemus said President Obama is lying to her through her television set. She also claimed that Donald Trump had the power to read her mind and says what she’s thinking. Through her meandering rant her main point was crystal clear: Politicians are terrible and Donald Trump is the anti-politician.

“We’ve got people in positions of power who I know for a fact are liars. Liars!” she said. “I watch the TV — My president comes on the TV and he lies to me! I know he’s lying. He lies all the time.”
She said she doesn’t believe “any one of them” except Donald Trump.
“I’m telling you, he says what I’m thinking!” she went on. “Never had involved in politics, never had an interest in any of it. Now suddenly, he is resonating. He is resonating with the people and he’s speaking our minds. Our minds!”
However, DeLemus did have an interest in politics, she was a politician. In 2010, DeLemus rode the wave of Tea Party popularity to a seat on the state House of Representatives. From there she spent her time in office promoting the right-wing theory that Obama wasn’t an American citizen. Sensing another four years of Obama as president, DeLemus and her Tea Party friends even tried to get Obama’s name off the ballot arguing he was a “treasonous liar.” The Atlantic wrote about it at the time and caught a picture of DeLemus threatening the state’s assistant attorney general for allowing the president’s name on the ballot. Here she is looking as crazy as ever.
As Raw Story reports, DeLemus and her husband are also big fans of the right-wing militia movement. In 2014, they joined other sovereign citizens in the standoff with the United States government at Cliven Bundy’s ranch. Jerry DeLemus is a member of the dangerous fringe group the Oath Keepers, which advocate a dangerous anti-government ideology.
Improbably, DeLemus doesn’t seem alone in the state of New Hampshire. Among Republican voters, Trump is polling incredibly well in the granite state. In the latest poll, taken just three days ago and right in the middle of Trump’s announcement that he wished to ban all Muslims from entering the United States, 32 percent of New Hampshire Republicans said they would vote for him to be president.
DeLemus represents Trump’s typical supporters in other ways as well. Her anti-media, anti-establishment delusions are directly related to her support for Trump. For years, right-wing media outlets have primed conservatives with the idea that the media can’t be trusted and if the facts don’t align with their beliefs, you should get new facts. This bubble has played right into Trump’s hand who has put on a master class in how to tell people what they want to hear. DeLemus has been conditioned to believe that everyone but Trump is lying to her, and therefore Trump is the only solution.
For Trump fans, his words are scripture and must be taken on faith alone. Everyone else is just out to get you. No wonder they’re so paranoid.
