Earlier today, Donald Trump sent one of his characteristically insensitive and tone deaf tweets out to commemorate a holiday.
On Memorial Day morning, Trump sent out a tweet that should have been honoring America’s fallen soldiers and paying tribute to the country’s military — but instead, the tweet just served as a bragfest for the selfish Tweeter in Chief. After wishing everyone a “happy” Memorial Day, Trump rattled off a list of his accomplishments and claimed that dead soldiers “would be happy” if they could witness his presidency. And let’s not forget that right after Trump tweeted that, he went off on a multi-tweet rampage about his “Spygate” conspiracy theory.
None of Trump’s predecessors would have dared to send such a disgusting, inappropriate message out into the world, but Trump seems more than comfortable with it — and unfortunately, America has gotten used to it. However, the team behind veterans group VoteVets was too outraged to stay silent and lashed out at the president, making sure that Trump wouldn’t get away with this.
VoteVets responded to the tweet and called it the “most inappropriate” and “appalling” message — particularly because Trump had exploited fallen soldiers in order to get his agenda out. The group also reminded America that Trump was a coward and a draft dodger:
This is the most inappropriate #MemorialDay comment that a @POTUS has ever made. Self-promotion on a day to remember the fallen, and wishing those remembering their deceased loved ones a “happy” holiday is appalling. #CadetBoneSpurs pic.twitter.com/kRse4dnwiu

Trump deserves all the criticism that falls on him. He has been horrible for veterans and those in the military. It’s time that he realizes that no one wants to be subjected to his gross self-promotion, and no one believes that he cares about anyone other than himself.
