You don’t need to do anything more than take a look at Donald Trump’s Twitter account to know that he isn’t half as tough as he wants everyone to believe. On an almost daily basis, the president flies off the handle over something someone said about him on television or gets into a petty argument with someone on Twitter.
But Trump’s defense of his fragile ego isn’t limited to his online interactions, either — what he does offline is pretty unbelievable as well.
Bloomberg has just reported that Trump’s thin-skinned behavior is so bad that it shocked U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May’s entire team last year. Trump put himself on every Brit’s bad side when he pulled this very offensive move during a meeting with May in 2017:
Trump turned to May and told her he believed there were parts of London that were effectively ‘no-go areas’ due to the number of Islamic extremists”
Of course, May corrected him and told him that London didn’t have any “no-go zones” — but it was too late. Trump had already offended everyone with his bigotry. The Bloomberg article also pointed out that Trump whined to May about the unfair treatment that U.K. press had given him and because of that, he refused to visit the country until May told him there wouldn’t be any mass protests against him. Bloomberg reported:
May responded to say such treatment was simply the way the British press operate, and there wasn’t much she could do.”
Trump’s demand to May stunned her entire team, who could not believe that the President of the United States was this thin-skinned and would make such a request:
In the secure bunker underneath the prime minister’s office, her advisers listened in to the call in astonishment at Trump’s demand.”
May’s former communications director, Katie Perrior, told Bloomberg that she was against May’s decision to invite Trump to visit:
It was clear to me and others at the time that an offer of a state visit to President Trump was over the top and unnecessary.”
America literally has a president who won’t visit countries because people don’t like him. Considering how unpopular Trump is, how can we possibly have good relationships with other world leaders if Trump is this fragile?!
