Donald Trump has been repeatedly told by members of his own team that Amazon is not doing any damage to the United States Post Office, but he continues to live in his own alternate reality full of lies.
We all know that Trump has a major problem with Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, because not only is Bezos more successful than him, but Bezos owns the Washington Post — a paper Trump has repeatedly attacked for publishing negative but true content about him. According to Axios, Trump is “obsessed” with finding a way to punish Amazon as a way to hit back at the Post, and his latest move has shocked Americans.
A new report states that Trump actually tried to get the U.S. Postal Service to double its charges for Amazon as a way to attack Bezos! According to the Post, several sources have said that Trump has had many conversations with U.S. Postmaster General Megan Brennan, in which the president has begged her to double the shipping charges on Amazon packages. Brennan has continued to deny Trump’s demands, repeatedly explaining to him that his claims about Amazon are untrue and that Amazon actually benefits the Postal Service. WaPo wrote about Trump’s secret meetings with Brennan:
Brennan and Trump have met at the White House about the matter several times, beginning in 2017, and most recently four months ago. The meetings have never appeared on Trump’s public schedule.”
This increase request is Trump’s first official attempt to strike against Bezos and his companies. This is a completely inappropriate use of Trump’s power, and Americans know it. Once word of Trump’s unethical schemes made headlines, Twitter lit up with responses calling Trump out:
What Trump is trying to do is a perfect example of how he is wasting America’s time with his own unethical and personal wars against the media.
