Watching Donald Trump interact with other (real) world leaders at the G-7 Summit is certainly a sight to behold. On one hand it’s extremely embarrassing for all Americans, but on the other hand, sometimes it’s kind of hilarious.
Yesterday, Trump met with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and tried to claim that despite the fact that the unhinged POTUS torched Trudeau on Twitter and has imposed ridiculous tariffs on Canada, their “relationship is probably as good, if not better than it’s ever been.” Let’s just say that lie didn’t go over too well.
The Canadian PM’s face said it all. Trudeau, who is usually one to be in good humor and play along, just sat there with a stony expression on his face as Trump said those words (likely still fuming over Trump’s childish tweets). You can watch the uncomfortable video below:

Trump’s words are a far cry from the nonsense he was saying just the night before when he trashed Canada and several other G-7 nations on his Twitter account. In one tweet, Trump whined about the tariffs:
Why isn’t the European Union and Canada informing the public that for years they have used massive Trade Tariffs and non-monetary Trade Barriers against the U.S. Totally unfair to our farmers, workers & companies? Take down your tariffs & barriers or we will more than match you!”
Trump also directly attacked Trudeau and French President Emmanuel Macron:
Trudeau and Macron responded to Trump’s ridiculous tariffs with a more elegant (but equally brutal) joint response:
This is ridiculous to think they could be a threat to national security. In fact, we are the closest friends the United States has had in quite some time.”
For Trump to say that things are good between himself and other world leaders is hilarious. The president will say anything to make himself look better — but Trudeau was not having it!
