The majority of Americans did not want any part of Donald Trump’s horrendous tax plan — and there was a reason why. This tax plan, which was marketed by Trump and the Republican Party as a major tax break for the middle class, was really just one big tax cut for the top 1 percent, and we all knew it. But karma’s a b*tch, and this attempt to trick Americans is about to blow up in the GOP’s face.
Trump’s tax plan was passed only four months ago, and already the GOP is getting some pretty bad feedback. According to new surveys, most Americans are well aware that they won’t be getting bigger paychecks than they did before and believe the tax plan was a scam — which is going to screw the GOP in the midterm elections.
The Republican Party made a mistake by making this “tax cut” bill the center of its message to voters. This tax plan only benefited Trump and his rich white buddies and even some Trump supporters are catching on. The payoff for the middle and lower class is practically nothing. According to the Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center, Americans who make between $48,600 and $86,100 will only see about $35 in additional income in their monthly paychecks. Americans with incomes under $25,000 only receive $60 for the entire year. That’s honestly pathetic. Vanessa Williamson, a fellow at the Brookings Institution, confirmed:
The tax bill just doesn’t provide much benefit to most people.”
According to a recent CNBC poll, only 32% of working Americans said they had more take-home pay because of the new law. If the Democratic Party focuses on the fact that this tax bill helped the rich and did almost nothing for middle and lower income people, midterm elections are going to be a breeze. The GOP practically destroyed itself and handed the Dems the election with Donald Trump’s horrific leadership — and they’re going to pay as we vote them out.
