We can all recall how Donald Trump promised up and down that he would only pick “the best” people to be in his administration. It didn’t take long for everyone to figure out that this was just another one of Trump’s lies, and we’ve been horrified to see the swamp and circus that Trump has turned the White House into. Things have gotten to such an inexcusable level that even Trump is voicing his regrets.
Trump has been trashing his Attorney General Jeff Sessions for quite some time — yet he still hasn’t realized how bad it makes him look. Trump began his Tuesday morning in the usual way, by whining about the “Russian Witch Hunt,” which the president is still insisting is a “hoax.” But this time, he blamed the entire thing on Sessions and admitted that he wishes he’d picked someone else. Trump also accused Sessions of ruining “so many lives” in a scathing tweet that is sure to cause chaos in a White House that is already overwhelmed with PR nightmares.
The Russian Witch Hunt Hoax continues, all because Jeff Sessions didn’t tell me he was going to recuse himself…I would have quickly picked someone else. So much time and money wasted, so many lives ruined…and Sessions knew better than most that there was No Collusion!”
This tweet marks the second time in the past week that Trump has publicly slammed Sessions and admitted that he wouldn’t have chosen him for Attorney General if he’d known Sessions would recuse himself over Russia. The ironic part is, Sessions does know better — or at least MORE — than most what happened during the campaign. That’s why he recused himself.
Trump’s anger against Sessions is personal because no one on his team is trashing Sessions like this. Trump’s own attorney, Rudy Giuliani, recently went the opposite way and stated that he understood why Sessions would not want to be involved in the Russia matter. As usual, Trump is a lone voice on this one.
Unfortunately, he’s the loudest.
