Everyone knows that Donald Trump seriously f*cked up the entire G-7 Summit (except for Trump of course). Not only did the President of the United States repeatedly state how much he wanted Russia to join the group again (a highly unpopular opinion), but he went off on several unhinged rants and left America’s relations with our allies in a state of tension over trade tariffs. Even after he left the summit early, Trump continued to fight with our allies (on Twitter) and damage things further.
America is disgusted and worried about how we’re going to survive until 2020 as Trump destroys our standing with other countries. In reaction to the mess Trump has created, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) sent a powerful message to U.S. allies last night and Trump is losing his mind over it. McCain wrote on Twitter what almost every American is feeling:
To our allies: bipartisan majorities of Americans remain pro-free trade, pro-globalization & supportive of alliances based on 70 years of shared values. Americans stand with you, even if our president doesn’t.”
Spoken like a true leader. The tweet was so necessary, as it followed several unhinged tweets from Trump that happened earlier that day in which the POTUS trashed Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and threatened to take back the United States’ endorsement of the G7 Summit Communique — a move that would undo any progress that was made during the summit. Here’s just a tiny glimpse of how Trump has been ruining things:
Trump sent off those tweets because he was angry Trudeau said he would with “absolute certainty” impose retaliatory tariffs on America.
At least there are American heroes like McCain who are reaching out and expressing the true opinions of Americans. This is going to make Trump furious — especially since the president has such a long history of disrespecting McCain. Trump has yet to comment on McCain’s tweet, but we know it won’t be long before he does.
