If Donald Trump is awake, there’s a very good chance that he’s on Twitter and complaining about some form of criticism that he completely deserves.
Earlier today, the president couldn’t wait to brag about his recent poll numbers, which Trump claimed were his “best poll numbers in a year.” As usual, this is actually pretty embarrassing for him, but he is far too stupid to realize it. Those “best poll numbers” are still pretty awful, and for someone who constantly complains about fake news, Trump tends to favor some pretty inaccurate polls. Trump tweeted:
Can you believe that with all of the made up, unsourced stories I get from the Fake News Media, together with the $10,000,000 Russian Witch Hunt (there is no Collusion), I now have my best Poll Numbers in a year. Much of the Media may be corrupt, but the People truly get it!”
Trump is probably referring to a new poll by Rasmussen, which is a right-leaning poll and a far less accurate source than others (its more balanced peers are reporting lower poll numbers for Trump). Demonstrating just how pathetic Trump’s presidency is, he can somehow find it in himself to brag about the fact that only 47 percent “of Likely U.S. Voters approve of President Trump’s job performance” and the majority — 52 percent — still disapprove. That’s nothing to be proud of, but Trump doesn’t operate like most people.
Trump may have high hopes that one day his approval rating will be over 50 percent, but that’s probably not ever going to happen for him as his administration continues to be wrecked by damaging internal leaks and a major investigation that his own incompetent team has assisted Special Counsel Robert Mueller in carrying out.
Trump has complained that the media has been twisting these leaks and investigation developments “to make us look as bad as possible,” but even when you take away all the sensational headlines and just stick to the facts, it’s looking pretty hopeless for Trump — just like those poll numbers.
