Donald Trump’s lack of intelligence and tendency to violate and disrespect all rules and protocol for the White House has once again resulted in an major threat to the country’s national security.
Unlike the presidents before him, the unhinged POTUS refuses to have any protection or advanced security features on his cell phone because he says it’s too “inconvenient” — which means it probably makes it a tiny bit harder to constantly tweet throughout the day or call Fox News hosts for advice.
According to Politico, two senior officials in Trump’s administration have raised concerns about the security issues Trump’s unprotected phone poses. As Trump has refused to put more security features on his cell phone, his administration officials were then forced to beg the president to change his phone every month — which Trump also refused to do.
Officials state that Trump uses two cell phones regularly — one to make phone calls and one to play on Twitter and other apps (you can probably guess which one he uses the most). The only protective measure that Trump has allowed his White House aides to proceed with is his phone number, which changes from time to time.
This is pretty terrifying. While a White House official stated that Trump’s phones “are seamlessly swapped out on a regular basis through routine support operations” that’s not very comforting. The official also said, “Because of the security controls of the Twitter phone and the Twitter account, it does not necessitate a regular change-out.”
However, former director of counterterrorism on the National Security Council Nate Jones believes this is a major red flag. Jones has said that Trump’s refusal to take his aides’ suggestions “could pose significant risks to the country.”
If Trump’s phone gets hacked, he will have no one but himself to blame.
