On what should have been the perfect day for First Lady Melania Trump to spread her “kindness” and “no bullying” message to local Washington schoolchildren, she was once again missing in action. To make matters worse, she seemed to have forgotten that she was hosting a very important guest for two events — Japan Prime Minister’s wife, Akie Abe.
Melania has been “missing” from the spotlight recently, feeding the conspiracy theorists with all sorts of “where is she” scenarios, but the fact that she missed these two events is pretty odd — especially since the wife of Japan’s Prime Minister had to fill in for her.
According to the Daily Mail:
Melania did not join Akie Abe, wife of the Prime Minister of Japan, at either of her events Thursday as she had a event with her 12-year-old son Barron.”
The Daily Mail continued:
‘Mrs. Trump had a previously scheduled event with her son and was regrettably not able to host Mrs. Abe,’ the first lady’s communications director Stephanie Grisham told DailyMail.com.
No other details were offered but Mrs. Trump may have joined her son, who attends the private St. Andrew’s School in Potomac, Maryland, for some end-of-school year activities. Barron also plays on a local soccer team.”
That seems plausible, but because we haven’t seen Melania in the public eye for a couple of weeks now… we can’t be sure. We don’t want to speculate, though.
In the meantime, Melania’s place was held very capably by Mrs. Abe, who visited both schools on their schedule and hosted military spouses at the Japanese ambassador’s home for lunch.
LaSalle Backus Educational Campus, a school that is participating in a year-long program about Japanese culture, gave Mrs. Abe a gift during her visit Thursday morning. I’m not sure what everyone else thinks, but I believe that gift wasn’t wasted on Mrs. Abe.
