The Trump family are up to their eyeballs in criminal contacts with the Russians. Of course, most of the focus thus far has been on the now infamous Trump Tower meetings with a Kremlin-linked lawyer where Donald Trump Jr. was the ring leader. Now, however, it seems that Donald Trump’s
daughter wife pride and joy, Ivanka, is now the one who is about to be in hot water over her contacts with the Russians.
Buzzfeed is reporting that while the 2016 presidential campaign was underway, Ivanka decided that it would be a good idea to try and hook her father up with a Russian Olympic athlete who had close ties to Russia’s autocratic leader, Vladimir Putin. Now why would Trump’s favorite child be doing this? Why, to fulfill her father’s dream of having a 100-story Trump Tower in Moscow, that’s why. The athlete, Dmitry Klokov, even told Ivanka that he could get her father introduced to Vladimir Putin himself.
What makes all of this even more deliciously suspicious is the fact that Ivanka arranged all of this through Trump’s personal lawyer, aka his “fixer,” Michael Cohen. Of course, we all know that Cohen is now under heavy scrutiny by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which recently raided his home and office in search of incriminating documents. To that end, this latest revelation could mean more trouble for Cohen, and, in turn, for the entire Trump clan, including The Donald himself.
As for Ivanka – it had thus far seemed that she had been smart enough to keep her nose clean and away from all of this scandalous Russia mess for the most part, as we had rarely heard her name in connection with these shady dealings. But, we had to know that Trump’s little princess would have to go down with the whole criminal ship at some point.
Of course, Ivanka is denying that she knew anything about this. A statement from her lawyer blames Michael Cohen, and says Ivanka had heard nary a peep about the Moscow Trump Tower deal “until after a nonbinding letter of intent had been signed, never talked to anyone outside the Organization about the proposal, and, even internally, was only minimally involved. Her only role was limited to reminding Mr. Cohen that, should an actual deal come to fruition (which it did not), the project, like any other with the Trump name, conform with the highest design and architectural standards.”
Lies, all of it, of course. Well, Ms. Ivanka, you might get away with lying to the American people – for now. But guess who you can’t lie to? Congress and the Special Counsel. And they are the ones who really matter in all of this.
Couldn’t happen to a nicer girl. Hopefully, she’s next to be questioned by Team Mueller.
